Orleans, mother of Governor and TC Athene passed away
At the age of 25 our top mare Orleans. (Jazz x Ulft) passed away this morning. This full sister of the Olympic horse Parzival was bought as a foal by Jan Streppel from the Beijer family. Together with Toulouse , who died earlier, they formed the first basis of the breeding at Streppel, of which we were later also allowed to be a part.
Orleans, who carried the predicates elite, preferent and prestatie, had no less than 18 foals and has left the breeding well behind. Her most famous offspring are the Grand Prix stallion Governor (by Totilas) who currently performes at the highest levels in dressage with Adelinde Cornelissen and the Grand Prix horse TC Athene (by United), the success horse of Jeanine Nieuwenhuis with she has won many medals at National and European level.
Through embryo transplantation Orleans has been able to provide offspring for the past four years, including the second round viewing stallion Mascotte-STRH. (by Glock's Toto jr), which is at Studutch, Sjaak van der Lei.
We ourselves have another granddaughter from Orleans for breeding: Novalaise-STRH. (by Dream Boy) who comes from Edelweiss-STR. (by Zhivago). Novalaise is in foal to Fontaine TN.
We are and grateful to Orleans for all the wonderful things she has given us. Especially through her son Governor she has been able to make a big mark on the current dressage horse breeding industry. For Jan, she and Toulouse were very precious and he looked very well after them both. She was still very fit until today and was walking in the field with two young horses enjoying her old age. This morning Jan saw her collapse. We will never forget her.
